September 1st picks

Streak for the Cash is finally back along with the start of college football. Its been a great last few days off, but I am very excited about getting back to this blog. I really love writing for you guys and helping streakers succeed. This month I actually have a more detailed idea of how I will format this blog, and how I will run it in general. Last month was a bit of a grey area in terms of blogging. I just have 1 pick up right now but I will have more to come as SM updates September 1st picks.

Lets get started...

Pick #1 Philadelphia Phillies

Don't let the records fool you. This game may be a closer than a lot of people realize. With that said however, I am still going with the sheep. Vance Worley has been great on the mound. Posting a 2.65 ERA, 9-1 record, 83 SO and 1.12 WHIP. No doubt he has been solid this season. However, his loss did come to the Reds back in May. Its not often you see a guy pitch a game with a 2.14 ERA and still lose. Ironically, it happened to Worley and even more ironic it was against the Reds. With that said, I still stand by the Phillies as much as I would even if Worley had won that game to the Reds back in may. I still think they are the pick here.

The Reds will bring out Mike Leake, with an ERA of 4.04, 11-8 record, 107 SO and 1.23 WHIP. The Reds have looked pretty good at home, but the Phillies have looked just as good on the road. I think it will be a close game but I like the Phillies in a close one.

Phillies batting ranks:

11th in runs, 17th in batting average, 10th on base and 15th in slugging %

Reds batting ranks:

4th in runs, 12th in batting average, 8th on base and 12th in slugging %

I just found out Accuscore has the Reds favored. This definitely isn't as much of a lock as people are hyping it up to be. But hey, its not like you have a streak to risk. Pick anything or anyone you want.

Pick #2 Texas Rangers (writeup will be up soon)

Texas (77-60, 43-28 home) will be looking to continue their journey to taking thier division today, as they host the Rays (74-61, 39-30 away) at home. C.J. Wilson will start for the Rangers today as he looks to makeup for his 5-4 loss to the Rays back in may. This year he has been pretty consistent for the most part (3.29 ERA, 13-6 record, 165 strikeouts, 1.23 WHIP). The Rays will place Jeff Niemann on the mound who has put up similar numbers (3.46 ERA, 9-5 record, 89 strikeouts, 1.18 WHIP). One thing that worries me about Niemann is his ability to win on the road. Which he has done pretty well this year.

My conclusion with this pick is Texas. Home feild advantage and batting are the biggest factors. Both pitchers are about even to me. Texas ranks 3rd in runs, 2nd in batting average, 5th on base and 3rd in slugging %. The Rays rank 14th in runs, 25th in batting average, 16th on base and 14th in slugging %.

Texas for the green.

More to come...

Be sure to join my streakhelper group as well. I just realized I cant make 2 separate entries per month otherwise I am disqualified for SFTC (thank goodness my W12 didn't go anywhere big). So I won't be using my streakhelper entry except to give you updates on my group message boards.

Which I am sure a lot of you are very excited about. I will have the picks up for September 1st up tomorrow night. I will revert back to my original plan of 1-4 picks a day and try to spread them out as much as possible. I have every intention of making this month better than last.

If you are not a follower be sure to do so by clicking "follow" at the top left of this blog page.  Also be sure to join my group on SFTC (Copy and past the link on my last post). Get ready for a good month.

Last Post of the Month; Overall blog record for the month (since 8/10) 45-10

  August 26th pick results-

Picks-
Detroit- Won 8-1
Winnipeg- Won 30-27
Chicago- Won 4-2

Possible picks-
Stuttgart- loss 1-0
Barcelona/Porto- Barcelona won (not counted)

Tonight I reluctantly decided to finish this blog for the month. There is just so little traffic to be writing like I have been at the beginning of the month. Most people have given up on August (including myself) and are waiting for September to role around. I havn't had a lot of passion and desire lately the last couple of days after losing a W12 and have just kinda been throwing up posts and slacking. There really isn't much of a point to continue writing for so few people reading.

Its been a really good month for this blog and I don't think I could have asked for a better start. I have had a lot of traffic and a decent amount of followers on my blog. I would like to thank those who have supported it and followed. I am glad it has helped most of you. This blog finished 45-10 overall (including possible picks and every prop I had up) with a 81.8% winning percent overall and 87.8% regular pick percent. I expect similar or better results next month. Not to shabby for a free site. I hope you continue to follow this blog next month and also become an official follower to this blog. You can to that by clicking "follow" in the top left corner.

I think September will be a really good month, because I think this blog has become popular enough to really hit the ground running from the beginning of September. Instead of picking up in the middle like It has in August. I really think with a whole month to prepare someone following this blog will have a good shot to win next month. Maybe even the stash. Just kidding. But seriously, maybe. I hope you enjoy your next few SFTC stress-free days off. Its nice not to be obsessed with SFTC for the next few days.

Good luck next month and good luck if you are still playing.

August 26th Picks

Today I couldn't really get around to posting on my blog. So I had no final writeups on my picks. Tomorrow I should have some more time to invest in this blog and finish up the month. The last few days have been crazy busy.

If you picked Atlanta today awesome. If you picked Texas hopefully you didn't use the odds to fully invest your pick. I really couldn't figure out why Texas was such a huge favorite... I just decided to skip on them. I liked them of the two but not enough to make the pick.

Just a quick post tonight on who I like tomorrow. I am only going to write who I really like and no more iffy-picks. Tomorrow I WILL have writeups on these games. I know I didn't today and I said I would but tomorrow will for sure. These picks havn't been finalized so I may be adding some or taking some off tomorrow morning or tonight.

The Picks

Possible Pick Vfb Stuttgart- This game will be very close. But with the draw option, I think Stuttgart is the way to go. Draw in a very close game I think.

Possible pick FC Porto Win, draw lose by 1

Some info I found online...

"I’ll take Porto here, why? IN THEIR LAST 78 games in all competitions, going back to March 2010, the Portuguese have been beaten by more than 1 goal JUST ONCE. Defensively they are up there with best and while Barcelona has to regard as the best club in the World at the moment and they may win the Super Cup, it won’t be a cakewalk. With the Spanish season yet to start due to the strike, they may just be a little rusty and Porto has started their own season in usual fashion, winning 2 from 2. Both teams have contested 2 previous Super Cups, Barcelona winning 1 and losing one and Porto losing both games they played in but on both occasions, the games were close…

28/08/2003 Super Cup Milan 1:0 Porto.
26/08/2004 Super Cup Porto 1:2 Valencia.

05/08/2006 Super Cup Barcelona 0:3 Sevilla
28/08/2009 Super Cup Barcelona 1:0 Shakhtar (after extra-time)

Barcelona, as we all know can be devastating at times and if on top form, can score at will but Porto are no mugs and have one of the best defences in Europe and will make it hard for the Catalans. Whether Porto can keep Barcelona off the score sheet is debatable but they themselves can be very dangerous in front of goal. If Barca does have any weakness, it can be argued that it is in defence but by being so effective up front, they win games basically by outscoring the opposition. With the possibility of extra-time, (the prop is for 90 minutes only), I’ll go with Porto to hang tough defensively and if they do lose, it may be only by one."

This guy has some good information but I think Barcelona will have a pretty good shot at winning by 2+ as well. Close call to me. Hope this info helps..

Pick #1 Detroit Tigers-

This should be a decent pick. Detroit has had a very good batting team for the most part of this season. Ranking 9th in runs, 5th in Batting Average, 6th on base % and 6th in Slugging percent. Also on the mound they will start a pretty experienced pitcher, who despite his 5.17 ERA has an alright record at 11-8 with 80 strikeouts. Minnesota has had pretty low batting all year 26th in runs, 20th in batting average, 28th on base and 27th in slugging. But with a pitcher with a notably high ERA they may do a little better than normal. With that said, Minnesota will start a pitcher (Scott Diamond) with very little experience (1 game), In which he pitched a 4.26 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and only 1 strikeout. He has a notably high ERA as well. So I don't see why the Tigers can't hit on a pitcher with little experience. Go Tigers.

Pick #2 Winnipeg Blue Bombers- I'm not going to have a writeup on this. Just know it is a pretty good pick.

Pick #3 Chicago White Socks-

These might be some picks you want to check out before you go to bed or in the morning. I will get them done tomorrow morning sometime.

Thanks

August 25th Picks

I will get a writeup on these tomorrow. I lost my W12 today on my personal entry (special thanks to the Brewers), so out of slight dissappointment I just threw some picks out that I was making to rebound. Hopefully they helped some of you. On the bright side, most of the leaderboard fell and our stash will have a good chance of rolling over to September ($500,000). Thats a lot of dough.

Today was a weird day. The 3 picks I was a little iffy about turned out to be great picks and the 2 picks I felt best about were losses.

Also I may end this blog a little early this month if no one has a decent streak within the next few days. I can tell my traffic is slowing down because people (including myself) have lost motivation for the month and are waiting for September to roll around. That's why I have been slacking on this blog a little bit researching picks and updating. Also I have been throwing in more 50/50 picks trying to help people get a streak before the end of the month. At this point however I think it is about time to wrap up the month.

I think September will be a really good month, because I think this blog has become popular enough to really hit the ground running from the beginning of September. Instead of picking up in the middle like It has in August. So far this blog has been 41-9 in overall picks and I expect similar or better results for next month. I really think with a whole month to prepare someone following this blog will have a good shot to win next month. Maybe even the stash. Just kidding. But seriously, maybe

The Picks for now...

Atlanta- Man its hard to pick them after today but I will tell you why I think they will pull it out tomorrow.

Rangers- They are a huge favorite. I will let you know if I find out why... ha

I will check a couple of soccer props to.

Stay tuned for tomorrow

August 24th picks

Pick #1 Milwaukee

With Marcum on the mound for the Brewers and the Pirates starting a newbie pitcher, the Brewers to me are the obvious choice. Marcum has been pretty good this year for the Brewers, going 11-3, with 127 strikeouts and a 3.4 ERA. I think it will be similar to yesterday. That's about all you need to know honestly.

No time for anymore writeups. I have been so busy the last couple days.

Pick #2 Atlanta Braves-

Possible Pick Arizona-

Possible Pick #2- Boston

Possible Pick #3 Yes Weaver records a strikeout

Sorry. this blog has been hard to update today.

August 24th picks will be up tomorrow

Sorry guys, I just can't get a post up tonight. I have to much going on. I will put up picks tomorrow though as I go along the day. Or I will try to fit them all in the morning sometime before noon.

Goodnight

August 23rd Picks/lookback on day (post still in progress)

August 22nd results-

Orebro SK Result-   Loss 2-0
Detroit Tigers Result- Won 5-2
Atlanta Braves Result- Won 3-0

Record for day 2-1, 34-5 overall

Not a lot I like tomorrow. I will try to find some picks the best I can

The Picks...

Pick #1 Milwaukee-

I like Milwaukee mainly because of their pretty good batting and because of the fact that Pittsburg is starting a pretty rough pitcher in Ross Ohlendorf. Ohlendorf has posting a 7.27 ERA, only 6 strikeouts an a 1.85 WHIP in his little playing time he as recieved this year. The Brewer's Marco Estrada hasn't looked increadibly hot this season either (4.28 ERA), but he has helped the Brewers defeat the Pirates 3 times this year. Milwaukee will have a pretty good team batting tonight (top 10 in everything except on base where they rank 11th). The Pirates have pretty low batting compared to the rest of the league. 25th or lower in every batting category. The Pirates have done better at home than on the road, so right now thats the only catch I see (besides this being SFTC and crazy stuff happens everyday).

Pick #2 San Francisco Giants-

The difference in this game is going to come down to the Cain and the Giants bullpen. Look for a defensive game. Both teams batting is pretty poor for the most part. One thing to note though is the Giants bullpen is apparently pretty thin from what I have heard. But if Cain gets hot and stays in most of the game, the Giants should have this. Even with low batting they have been able to win games.

Possible pick- Karlsruher SC II

I am just going to take a leap of faith and put this on the line. Its not like you have a lot of time anyway before the month is over. You have to just start making picks the best you can. Not a very well-known league, but I think I have enough to go Karlsruher. Last time the two teams played it ended in a 2-2 draw. However that was on the road for Karlsruher. This time they will be at home. They have looked pretty decent overall this year, both at home and on the road. Memmingen has looked pretty bad both ways on the road and at home. In fact they have scored 1 goal in their last 7 league matches. Karlsruher has scored 17 in their last 7. This will either end a win for Karlsruher or a draw. I just don't see Memmingen winning this.

Possible pick #2 Wisla Krakow?- Ok, well I'm really not sure about this one now. All Wisla has to do is score and they advance. Even if they lose by 50. Which, as you know, is very common in soccer to win or lose by 50 or more. Pick at your own risk. I think this is a pretty close pick... Just some free info on a game you may or may not be interested in.

More soon. This just to keep you busy

August 22nd Picks

Hey all,

Tonight is going to be a pretty plain post as well. I figured I could at least put something up. I will have my picks for tonight but no overview. I hope you had a good weekend and had a good week picking.

August 20th pick results-

Aston Villa- Won 3-1
Mexico-       Won 3-1
Phillies-       Won 5-0
Braves-       Won 8-1
Brazil-         Won 3-2

Record for day 5-0

Record for the month 32-4

I think tomorrow I will have this blog back to normal. I was just taking this weekend off. Tonight I will just do what I did for Saturdays picks and just simply give you some leads...

The Potential Picks-

Orebro-
Detroit- I didn't see this one at first. With Verlander pitching this should be a pretty solid pick
Atlanta-

Sorry this blog has been so plain the last couple days. Thanks for your patience. I should have this thing back to full potential tomorrow

August 20th picks/lookback on day

August 19th results

Wolfsburg Result- loss 4-1
Texas Ranger Result- Won 7-4

1-1 for the day
27-4 overall

If you look up the word fail in the dictionary, you will find the word Wolfsburg somewhere in the definition. I'm sorry, I should have known better than to make this a pick. I said from the beginning I didn't feel to good about this pick. I let the hype get to me. I should have put it as a possible pick. If it makes you feel any better (which I don't expect it to) a lot of people lost their streaks to this game as well. Great game to put up for SM. Moving on anyway...

No writeups on picks tonight. Definately the least colorful post by far. Here are some I will be looking at though. Whatever I pick, win or lose, I will add to my pick record. I hope this gives you guys a decent lead/idea on some picks

August 19th Picks/lookback on day

August 18th pick results

D.C. United- Won (draw 1-1)

Record for day- 1-0
Overall- 26-3

Surprised D.C. struggled so much. At one point I was actually pulling for them to lose to see the leaderboard go down. It was a win-win to me.

Tomorrow I have 2 or 3 picks. It seems like SM is really trying to throw some tougher picks lately. These are the best I could find. I may stay away today.

The Picks...

Pick #1 Wolfsburg

This pick didn't seem increadibly good to me at first. Borussia beat Bayern, who beat Wolfsburg. However, after doing a bit of research on this game, Borussia has a couple key players out and there are a lot of decent streaks being risked on this game. Also a fact, no game between these teams have ever ended without a goal. I think a draw is probably the most likely scenario.

Borussia Monchengladbach

Lucien Favre will have to do without the services of first-choice striker Igor de Camargo and defender Martin Stranzl who have picked up injuries. Roel Brouwers is serving a suspension after picking up a red card in last weekend's game against Stuttgart, and is set to miss the match on Friday.

Wolfsburg

Felix Magath will have a nearly full squad on hand, with only long-term absentees Arne Friedrich and Thomas Kahlenberg, as well as the dropped Diego, unavailable from his first-team squad. Ja-Cheol Koo is also injured after picking a knock in the match against Bayern Munich last Saturday and will join new signing Thomas Hitzlsperger on the sidelines

Pick #2 Texas Rangers-

I really hate picking Texas 4 of the last 5 days, but so far last night was my most concerned day to pick them. The Rangers (72-52, 33-29 away) will travel tomorrow to face the White Socks (61-61, 27-34 home). The Rangers have looked pretty well on the road, the White Socks havn't looked to great at home. Texas will start Matt Harrison (3.19 ERA, 10-8, 95 strikeouts, 1.27 WHIP) on the mound, who has looked pretty well this season. Chicago will start Jake Peavy (4.69 ERA, 5-5, 69 strikeouts, 1.23 WHIP). The Rangers recently became #1 in batting average in the MLB surpassing Boston. Next to that, they rank 3rd in runs, 4th on base and 2nd in slugging %. The White Socks are pretty average in batting, ranking 19th in runs, 15th batting average, 13th on base and 19th in slugging %. This isn't a lock but it is a decent pick.

More soon... stay tuned

August 18th Picks/Lookback on day

August 18th Pick Results

Vindbjart Result- Won 3-2
Dinamo Result- Won 4-1

2-0 for day
Possible pick Results

Detroit Tigers Result- Loss 6-5
Atlanta Braves Result- Loss 7-5
Brazil Result-               Won 2-0
Texas Rangers Result- Won 4-3

I think I am just going to revert back to my original plans of picking 2-4 quality picks. That's what made this blog so successful in the first place. Also according to a poll I took earlier that is what you guys wanted. I dont think this experiment went that great.

Well back to safer things....

The Picks...

Pick #1 DC United-

This is a pretty good pick. DC United has the draw option and look significantly better. DC United is 7-9-6 scoring 30 points and keeping their goal difference to 0. Chicago is 2-14-7 scoring 20 goals and having a -7 goal difference. The only thing I can see Chicago having an advantage in is playing at home. If DC United's team is healthy, there is a good chance they could pull out a win.

Thats actually all today. I cant really find anything else increadibly good.

August 17th picks/lookback on day

August 16 results

Atlanta Braves Result- Won 2-1
St. Louis Cardinals Result- Loss 5-4
Texas Rangers Result- Won 7-3

Picks correct for day 2-1. Overall pick record 23-3

Atlanta Braves- Im sorry I never got an overview up on this game. I was busier than I thought I would be today, but it turned out to be a pretty good pick. I went back and forth on this game and the Cardinals and finally just picked the Cardinals. Huge mistake.

St. Louis Cardinals- I new this would be close. I thought about not putting it up or put it up as a "possible pick" switched with Atlanta, but I didn't want to only post 1 pick. St. Louis had some good opportunities to take this game. Including taking a 1 point lead going into the bottom of the 9th inning. St. Louis played every bit as good as Pittsburg, but Pittsburg was  able to edge this one out and drag the game into overtime. Causing a lot of people to miss the Rangers pick.

Texas Rangers- (Game pending)

Conclusion: Today was probably my least confident day finding picks than any day since I started this blog. Tomorrow doesn't look much better aside from 1 pick I like. But I can help you a little. Also a somewhat funny irony, all three of my losses where baseball and all 3 ended 5-4 (Bosten, Angels and Cardinals).

The Picks: I am making a lot of picks today. Just to see how it works and to answer some of your questions. It will probably affect my record negatively a little bit, but I keep getting emails from you on certain matchups...

Pick #1- Vindbjart

I am just going to put this one up. This is a pick I am making this morning after the Cardinals ruined my decent streak. This is definetely a pick you want to make if you are trying to start over on a streak. Vindbjart is a huge favorite (-217 in some books) and even has the draw option. That might be all you need to know but here is a little more. They are 2-3-2 on the road and 4-2-2 at home. Oddly though they score more on the road. Forte is 4-2-1 at home, which is pretty good, however average less home goals than Vindbjart scores in away goals. Also Vindbjart scores more often period. Vindbjart ranks 7th in their league and Forte ranks 10th. Both teams in my opinion are pretty equal. But with the draw option in Vindbjart's favor, they are your best bet.

Pick #2- Dinamo Zagreb

Dinamo has absolutely dominated their league in Croatia, while Malmo is a middling team in the the far better Swedish Allsvenskanliga. I liked this game from the begining, but here is a good comment that kind of swayed my way a little more; "Dinamo Zagreb is a very nice team out of Croatia who is 4-0-0 with a +11 Goal difference. Pretty impressive. They are 3-1-0 in the UEFA Champions League so far with a +5 GD including two straight wins against HJK Helsinki (One home and one away) who is a powerhouse from Finland with a +37 GD in 20 matches played.

Malmö FF hails from the Allsvenskan in Sweden and is 9th in that league with a 7-6-5 record and a -2 GD. They've recently won and drawn against Rangers FC from Scotland who is 3rd in their league which is still just starting up with only 3 matches played. Granted, Sweden is a better soccer country than Croatia but Dinamo's wins were against very good teams better than Malmö FF." Could be close but If you made me choose I would go Dinamo.

Possible Pick #4- Brazil

This will be a short writeup, but Brazil looks like they should be in pretty good in this one. However, with the draw option I would say Mexico pickers may have a pretty fair shot at this. I think the odds would go something like 60/40 for brazil. Brazil is your best pick of the two stats-wise. Brazil is 4-0-1, Mexico is 1-1-1 in their tables. Brazil has scored a total of 12 points and a 12 point goal difference to add to that. Mexico has scored 4 points with a 2 point goal difference. If you cant choose just go Brazil.

Possible Pick #1- Atlanta Braves. No writeup on this game. Sorry just not enough time. Altlanta looks better on paper, but this game you have to choose at your own risk.

Possible Pick #2 Detroit Tigers

Detroit (65-57) will host Minnesota (53-68) tonight as they have looked pretty good at home. Detroit is 34-26 at home and Minnesota is 26-38 on the road. Detroit ranks top 10 in everything for batting (9th in runs, 4th in batting average, 6th on base and 8th in slugging %) vs. the Twins 23rd in runs, 19th in batting average, 28th on base and 26th in slugging %. Now onto pitching; Detroit will bring out Brad Penny tonight who is a pretty poor pitcher for the most part. Upholding a 4.99 ERA, 8-9 record, 55 strikeouts and 1.49 in WHIP.  The good news is the Twins wont start one much better. Carl Pavano will bring his 4.55 ERA, 6-9 record, 69 strikeouts and 1.36 WHIP to the mound. With Detroit being better at home, Minnesota being worse on the road, Detroit having significantly better batting and Pavano and Penny cancelling each other out, I don't see why you wouldn't go with Detroit. Unless you are feeling an upset.

Possible Pick #3 -Texas

Texas has been hot against the Angels for the last couple of days. And that is sorta what bothers me. It almost feels like SM is conditioning us for a Texas downfall. Thats the main reason I am putting this as a possible pick. Both teams will be starting pretty good pitchers. Texas will bring out CJ Wilson (3.28 ERA, 11-5, 153 strikeouts and a 1.23 WHIP) countered by the Angels Ervin Santana (3.10 ERA, 9-8, 143 strikeouts and 1.14 WHIP). Again I think the advantage here is Texas' batting. I think it will slightly outweight the Angels home feild advantage and CJ Wilson will cancel out Santana for the most part. I probably wont add these probable picks games to my record, but it is just some free info on a game you may be interested in.

I wont be back at a computer till 9 or 10 tonight. So this is all I have to finish your day. I am interested to see how all of these matchups end. Good luck tonight

August 16th picks/lookback on day

August 15th pick results:

Vaasan P. Result- Won draw 1-1
I took down this game. But Manchester City- Won 4-0
Atlanta Braves Result- Won 5-4
Texas Rangers Result- Won 8-4

Todays record 4-0 Overall record for the month  21-2

I backed out of the Man City game and missed Texas by 1 minute. In case you were wondering why I didnt pick them in my entry.

Most of tomorrow's picks don't look as good as they have the last few days. I will only have a couple I will put up for now. I may have more in the morning though.

Possible Pick: Atlanta Braves (writeup pending)

Pick #1 St. Louis Cardinals

St. Louis (65-57, 33-30 away) go on the road to face the Pittsburg Pirates (57-63, 27-32 home) tomorrow night. St. Louis' batting way outweights the success of the Pirates batting. St. Louis ranks 4th in runs, 3rd in batting average, 3rd on base and 4th in slugging %. The Pirates rank 27th in runs, 26th in batting average, 26th on base and 28th in slugging. The pitching matchup is about the same. Chris Carpenter will get the start for the cardinals. With his 3.68 ERA, 8-8 record, 132 strikeouts and a 1.34 WHIP, he compares closely with the Pirates Jeff Karstens. Who has a 3.04 ERA, 9-6 record, 80 strikeouts and a 1.14 WHIP. I would definitely say the Pirates have a very slight advantage in tomorrows pitching. But with the Cardinals better batting and better away-home record, I think they take this in a close game.

Pick #2 Texas Rangers

Similar to yesterdays post (look back at batting comparison), the Angels will host Texas yet again. The difference is that both teams will be starting fairly poor pitchers. Texas will bring out Derek Holland. He has a 4.3 ERA, 10-4 record, 111 strikeouts and a 1.41 WHIP. The Angels will start Tyler Chatwood. Who will bring his 4.07 ERA, 6-8 record, 67 strikeouts and a 1.55 WHIP. However, I like Holland slightly better. He (Holland) is more of a strikeout pitcher even with that kind of ERA and is averaging twice as many strikeouts per game than Chatwood. Also he has a better record and slightly lower WHIP.

More in the morning. Good night everyone

August 15th picks/lookback on day (Post is still being updated)

August 14th pick Results:

West Brom W/D/Lose by 1 Result- Won (lost 2-1)
LA Angels Result- Loss 5-4
Texas Rangers Result- Won 7-6
St. Louis Cardinals Result- Won 6-2

Record 3-1 on the day, 17-2 on the month (since August 10th)

Possible Picks (but can't guarantee)

Possible Pick #1 Vaasan P. win, draw, lose by 1

This is a tough one. I wont be guaranteeing this game or Manchester City as much as I can Atlanta or Texas. But here is my best prediction. VPS tied inter turku and JJK who are higher in the league than FC Honka. They were both at home though. However VPS has had a decent away record considering how mediocre (well almost bad really) their team is (1-2-2 in the last 5 away games).  They also played the top team and lost 3-0 on the road while FC Honka only lost by 1. Last year they lost to Honka 3-1 and this year they drew Honka 1-1. Both games were at home. With this game on the road I for sure dont expect them to win. But with some luck I can see them easily drawing or losing by 1. That's only with luck though. It could go either way.

Possible pick #2 Manchester City

Pick # 1- Atlanta Braves

Atlanta (70-51, 35-24 at home) will be hosting the Giants (66-55, 31-30 away) tomorrow night. The Giants batting has been pretty modest all season, yet they have been able to win games due to great pitching. The Giants stats for batting;  29th in runs, 27th batting average, 29th on base, 27th in slug %. Atlanta has been similar to the Giants in some ways. Winning games with modest batting and good pitching. Atlanta stats for batting; 16th in runs, 22nd in batting average, 21st on base and 16th in slugging%. Atlanta will be starting Tim Hudson on the mound tomorrow. Posting a 3.18 ER, 12-7 record, 113 strikeouts and a 1.09 WHIP. The Giants will be starting Madison Bumgarner at pitcher tomorrow. His stats; 3.53 ERA, 7-11 record, 134 strikeouts and 1.25 WHIP. Both pitchers in my opinion are pretty equal. To me what give Atlanta the advantage is their batting and homefeild advantage. Atlanta FTW (more like "For the Green")

Pick #2 Texas Rangers-

Is this really an option? The Angels will start an 0-1 pitcher who posted a 10.80 ERA in his last and only start against New York (Garrett Richards). Also Texas has much better bats at the plate and will be starting Alexi Ogando who posts a 3.22 ERA. All you need to know. Enough said.

Thats all for today. Check back later tonight for my August 16 picks

Tonights post is going to be short. I had some trouble getting home tonight and I can barely see straight I am so tired. But I will give you an overview of a couple picks I really like. Lets get to it...

The Picks:

Pick #1 West Brom

I am so sorry I didn't get this up in time. No internet this morning. I went with West Brom on my streakhelper entry. Hopefully you dont't let the name Man U trick you. In previous matches West Brom drew to Man U on the road and lost afterward 2-1. With them being at home, I don't see why they can't lose by just 1 as they have in the past.

Pick #2 Angels (there is an aweful delay with my phone to write about this game. Also its hard to write posts through a mobile phone as well. I picked LA though). I originally had this as a "possible pick". But the more I looked the more I liked it. Toronto caught some huge breaks at the end. Should have kept it as a"possible pick".

Pick #3 Texas Rangers

Texas looks good. Top 5 everything in batting; 3rd in runs, 2nd BA, 5th on base and 2nd in slug %.  The A's are 21st in runs, 24th ba, 20th on base and 24th in slugging %. Also Texas has a slightly better pitcher with Matt hardison. Who posts a 3.06 ERA, is 10-8 with 89 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.25. vs. the A's pitcher, Rich Harden (4.07 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 3-2, 45 strikeouts).

Pick #4 St. Louis Cardinals-

St Louis is 31-27 at home, 4th in runs, 3rd in their batting average, 3rd on base and 5th in slugging%. Colorado is 28-34 on the road, 12th in ba, 8th in runs, 7th on base and 11th slugging percentage. St. Louis will be starting Esmil Rogers on the mound. Even with his 6-1 record, he has an ironically bad ERA. He posts a 5.85 ERA, 32 strikeouts and a 1.73 WHIP. St Louis will be starting Edwin Jackson, who is less than spectacular as well. Posting a 4.07 ERA, 8-8 record, 109 strikeouts, 1.45 WHIP. Two pretty high-base giving pitchers. look for a high scoring affair. I think the Cardinals will pull this out though, with the slight batting and pitching advantage.

I will have more in a couple hours. Sorry such a late post

August 13 Picks/lookback at day

Please email me for anything, questions comments, hatemail... anything at streakhelp@yahoo.com

August 12th picks.

Cleveland Indians Result- Won 3-2
Yes. Dan Uggla gets a hit Result- Won Yes
Arizona Diamondbacks Result- Won 4-3
Boston Red Sox Result- Won 6-4

Record for day 4-0
Record since it began August 10th 11-0

All in all a decent day. Today I'm not writing a "lookback" summary on today's picks. Mainly because I want to save some time tonight and just jump straight in. Also, I started late writing tonight's post.

The Picks: Lets take a look...

Possible pick VfB Stuttgart W/D

I cant guarantee this one, but this seems like a good pick to me. Borussia has only won 1 out of 26 meetings. Stuttgart won lasts year by 1 and also beat them at home 7-0. I'm done, just trust me, this should be a decent pick.

Pick #1 Boston... again

Similar scenario to last time they played. Boston ranks 1st in runs, batting average, on base and slugging percentage. Mariners rank 30th in runs, batting average, on base and slugging percentage. Also, they will be at home again. Here are some pitching mix-ups. King Felix will lead the Mariners at the mound with his 3.31 ERA, 10-10 record, 174 strikeouts and 1.18 WHIP. No doubt Seattle will have a pretty good pitcher tomorrow. However Boston will start their best pitcher in Josh Beckett. His pitching is ridiculous; posting a 2.17 ERA, 9-4 record, 127 strikeouts and 0.94 Whip. You read that right folks, 2.17 ERA and 0.94 WHIP. If this isn't a good pick I dont know what is. Boston, probably the best team in the MLB (ranks wised) will have their best on the field and should be firing on all cylinders tomorrow. Even if they lose and you lose a big streak, there is not a much better way to go down.

Pick #2 Colorado Rapids W/D

Another fantastic prop. If I could choose Boston and San Jose, that would make me a happy man for sure. Unfortunately Streakmaster is going to make you choose... Here's what Colorado has on their side.

1. Colorado has a better table rank than San Jose.
2. Colorado has a better record (9 wins, 10 draws, 6 loses) vs San Jose (5 wins,10 draws, 8 loses)
3. Colorado has scored more goals this season. Colorado (37) San Jose (25)
4. Colorado has a better goal difference. Colorado (+4) San Jose (-4)

How did Colorado get the draw option? My only answer is San Jose is at home. I would go Colorado hands down.

I'll write more tomorrow. Its Friday night. I want to chill out

August 12th picks/Lookback on day

As I said before, another good day. I hope this has helped you the last couple of days. I really enjoy it and want to continue as long as I have an audience.

Pick Reviews:

Yankees-

This was one of those wins that was bittersweet. Obviously I want to win props and improve the reputation of this blog, but at the same time I REALLY wanted the Angels to pull off the upset and see the leaderboard go down. I felt good about the Yankees along with a lot of other people. I thought it would be pretty close, and it turned out to have a great finish. The Angels really scared me/made me excited there at the end. However, the Yanks pulled out the win and gave everyone a predictable green.

Sheffeild-

I really didnt pay much attention to this game. Because frankly I didnt care. I had no picks invested in the prop. It turned out to be a hard fought win for Sheffield however. Blackpool got more than they asked for.

Cardinals-

This pick made me a little nervous at first. But on paper the Cardinals looked better (besides overall record) than the Brewers. Turned out about what I expected but honestly I was a little surprised they won by more than the Yankees did.

THE PICKS: Ok lets get to it. Another day down, so lets move along...

Pick #1- Cleveland

They seem pretty clean on paper. I know you will have to wait out most of the day to pick this, but this could be a really good pick. The Indians have a better home record at 31-25 vs. the Twins 25-35 away. The Indians have better batting (15th in run, 21st in batting average, 16th on base, and 17th in slug %) than the twins (22nd in runs, 18th in batting average, 27th on base, and 26th in slug%). To  add to that the Indians will be placing Justin Masterson on the mound. He posts a 2.71 ERA, 9-7 record, 123 strikeouts, and a 1.19 WHIP. On the other side (Twins), you have Carl Pavano whos has a 4.71 ERA, 6-9 record, 65 strikeouts, and a WHIP of 1.36. Cleveland looks better than Minnesota in a lot of categories on paper

Pick #2- Boston

Obviously Boston looks good at first glance at (72-44) vs the Mariners who are (50-66). But in addition to Boston has a much better overall record, they stand out on the road as well.  Boston is (35-22) on the road, with the Mariners (29-29) at home. Ok, now that we have established the fact that Boston is better record-wise, now lets look at some other variables. Boston has the best batting team in the MLB. They are #1 in runs, batting average, slugging %, and on base. Seattle is 30th in runs, batting average, slugging %, and on base; huge advantage for Boston. Now, Here's the depressing catch... John Lackey. Lackey is one of the worst pitchers in the MLB at 6.14 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and only 76 strikeouts in 18 games. His decent record helps his odds (10-8), but he still looks aweful in his stats. Now for even more uneasy news, the Mariners will start a pretty good pitcher with Blake Beavan. Posting a 2.83 ERA, 3-2 starting record, 17 strikeouts in 5 games and a 1.09 WHIP, the Marlins definitely seem to have the pitching advantage. This evens it out a good bit. Dont count this a lock, but a pretty decent pick. Boston is who I would choose

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Possible Pick: Picks I am staying away from, but you may be interested in...

Possible Pick (but I cant promise a win)- Diamondbacks

This one is pretty even. The Diamondbacks (64-53, 32-26 home) host the Mets (58-59, 33-27 away). The Mets have looked good on the road so far this year. Both the Mets and the Diamondbacks will be starting good pitchers. The Diamondbacks will start Ian Kennedy with an impressive record at 14-3, he posts a 3.20 ERA, 137 strikeouts and 1.1 WHIP. The Mets will start Dillon Gee, with another pretty good record at 10-3, he posts a 3.93 ERA, 74 strikeout and a 1.23 WHIP. Both teams batting looks pretty even overall; 9th in runs, 4th in batting average, 4th on base and 13th in slugging %. The D-backs are 7th in runs, 20th in batting average, 14th on base and 6th in slugging %. With both teams being pretty much even, I would say the Diamondbacks but being on the road shouldnt phase the Mets. Great prop by SFTC, very tricky. Im bumping this one down to 50/50. Not a good pick for a streak. The more I looked at it, the more evenly matched it seemed.

Pick #3- Yes. Dan Uggla gets a hit

Dan Uggla is hot right now batting. I could almost guarantee he pulls off a hit. He has really struggled against Big Z, but this time he has been tearing it up in recent games. One hit sholdnt be to much to ask. I was going to add this to my "possible picks", but honestly this should be a really good pick unless you want to choose Cleveland and Boston. Which in my opinion Cleveland and Boston is the way to go.

***Im not adding Arizona to my blog pick record whether they win or lose. Its just free info on a game you may be interested in.

Im sorry this is so little but I have stuff I need to tend to tonight. I may have more info on some more props tomorrow and maybe edit this a little to, but I probably wont comment on golf. So far there is not a lot I like. Stay tuned, ill have more in the morning...

August 11 results

Sorry this post is so late, I had some business to deal with. Another great day. All predictions went as planned. But honestly I am only going to take credit for the Yankees and Cardinals game. Blackpool was just sort of a gut feeling and past matches went into play. That game could have gone either way. I will have the next picks for tommorow up soon. It will be later tonight around 11 to 11:30pm.

Picks today:

Yankees- Won 6-5
Cardinals- Won 5-2
Sheffield- Won 1-0
Indians- Won 10-3

record for day 4-0

streakhelper record for the month 6-0 (since August 10)

Hopefully by now you have at least a win 4 (unless you picked the Cardinals to)

More to come stay tuned....
Ok if your feeling bold about the Blackpool vs Sheffield game, I would go Sheffield. I really dont like this matchup, but if you forced me to make a pick between the two, Sheffield would be my pick. But the Yankees to me seem better. I think thats all I have time to write today. There arent a lot of matches I really like beside the Yankees and maybe the Cardinals. Stay tuned for tonight. I will have an analysis of August 12th picks and let you know my final thoughts on the Cardinals/Brewers game. If you have followed my picks from yesterday and pick the Yankees today that should put you at a win 4. be sure to click "follow" up in the top left corner of this page for updates. Sorry todays picks were not very in- depth. Tommorows should be though.

August 11th Streak for the cash picks/lookback on the day

Well lets see...

Pretty good day to reflect on. Its always nice to see a win, but to get 3 straight in one day.... yessss. so nice.

But enough with the stupidity, lets get to it. I have to say I was a little (more like a lot) surprised Lithuania (or however its spelled) pulled off such a lopsided 3-0 win. I knew they would win, dont get me wrong, but they looked a fair bit worse on paper than Arminia. It was one of those brain says Lithuania loses, gut feeling says they win

The Dogers really surprised me; well, actually Philly surprised me to. After the Dodgers 5 point head start I thought for sure it was over and couldnt beleive they were going to pull it off. Then the Phillies rallied an increadible 1 point win from behind. I was thrilled, but at the same time disappointed the leaderboard didnt fall

The Yankees Angels game was pretty predictable. The Yankees won by about as much as I thought they would.

THE PICKS: Im sure you are ready to move on by now. So here is my next set of picks...≥

Pick #1: Yankees

I really think this is a good prop to start your day. I think it will be pretty (maybe very) close, but Im pretty sure the Yanks take this one as well. Same scenario except the Yankees have homefeild advantage and the Angels have a more experienced pitcher In Tyler Chatwood. Chatwood, with 4.1 ERA, 6-8 record, and a WHIP of 1.54, will be going up against a very well equipped batting team in the Yankees. With that kind of ERA against the Yankees I think they will perform as well as they did today (8/10/11). The Angels of course have less than average batting and mediocre pitching in Chatwood. The Yankees have Bartolo Colon. This chunky fellow has a 3.33 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 14 games. What makes this even better is the Yankees are slightly more favored then they were today (8/10/11). Honestly this may be the only game you want to mess with unless you lose. I dont feel to good about very many of the others

Pick #2: Blackpool?

Im not so sure about this one. The crowd favorite is Blackpool but experts give the advantage to Sheffield, I think because they are at home. I would steer away from this game I think. I dont usually write about games I am not interested in, Im just throwing up the red flag for a trap. I could be wrong and if you know something I dont, by all means make the pick. But I feel better about New York.

Pick #3 (and last): Cardinals

This might be a good game for St. Louis. They are at home to begin with, they have slightly better batting and their pitcher (Carpenter) is almost exactly as good as Gallardo stat-wise. this is one of those "I'm feeling lucky picks". Also St. Louis is significantly favored and slightly better at home than the brewers are on the road.

So the gameplan so far; Yankees, and MAYBE Blackpool and/or the Cardinals. Sometimes streaks are about patience even if they are small

This is all just at a glance from the top of my head. I may go into a little more detail with the Cardinals and Blackpool tommorow. As well as any other picks that may catch my eye

August 11th picks will be up soon

Stay tuned. I will probably get the next picks in for tommorow up by midnight or early morning

Results for August 10

My August 10 picks in the day:

Lithuania- result: Won 3-0
Phillies- result: Won 9-8
Yankees- result: Won 9-3
Indians-result: Won 10-3

Record for month on blog-  4- 0

I really wish I had done this blog sooner. I always meant to but never got around to it. I'm not sure I'll more than likely ever win but hopefully I can help get someone in the running for the monthly prize or stash.

August 10th Streak for the Cash picks

Pick #1: Lithuania (soccer)

Here is a pick you may feel like I am crazy for., but I feel like this is a pretty good pick. Yes, Arminia has scored more goals and has a better record, but Lithuania I feel has played harder competition. Arminia is overrated to me and has used creampuff teams to make themselves look like they are a decent team. But trust me Lithuania wins this easily by 1 or 2

My best picks for today: PHILLIES and YANKEES

Pick # 2 Phillies:

The Phillies look like they will be in really good shape going up against the dodgers. The Phillies (76-40) play at the LA Dodgers (52-63). Worley has simply looked fantastic this year, with a 8-1 record, 2.85 ERA 72 Strike outs and a 1.17 WHIP. He looks much better on paper than his opponent's pitcher Chad Billingsley; Who has a pretty high 4.25 ERA, 10-9 record. However, with 120 strikeouts and a 1.43 Whip he makes up a little. I think Philly wins by a few and at least a couple. Definately a great pick.

Pick #3 Yankees:

Sometimes I absolutely hate the Yankees. They have broken more streaks, than any other team on SFTC. and as you remember back in June they finished off Gopher's 25 straight. But tonight I feel pretty good about them (of course thats what I have said before). The Angels will debut a pitcher who absolutely tore it up in his triple A farm league with a 1.6 ERA. But getting your first start against a Team with bats like the Yankees (ranked second in runs next to Boston and top 3 in everything else) might be a rough way to start a MLB career. The Yankees also have a slightly more experienced pitcher in Ivan Nova with a 10-4 record and 3.8 ERA. Also he Angels batting is nowhere close to the Yankees. Yankees for win 2 of the day (if they dont do what they have done in the past)

Pick #4 Cleveland Indians: Jeminez has been pretty decent lately. I'm not going to do much of a writeup on this, but I think cleveland is the way to go if you made me pick. Prediction; close game, but a win for Cleveland

Sorry this is all I have time to writeup today but...

Other picks you may consider but I cant guarantee:

No run scored in 5th inning and 2 or more hits in 8th inning

Excited about this blog's future

This blog Is dedicated to helping you maintain and begin a streak by only picking games that have high odds or I feel has a good shot at being a win. I will not be blogging about every pick, only the 1-4 (maybe 5) picks I feel will be a green.

Last month I finished 52-25. Most of my loses came from random picks I made after losing a streak. I have been playing since it began in 2008

Just give this blog a chance. Especially if you have a percent at .600 or less

I cant guarantee anything, but I have been at or above .700 in the last year and feel very confident in most of my picks. This blog will prove for itself

My goal is to simplify picks and help people weed out bad picks.

Thats really the goal. To simplify and win
