February 1st Picks

Pick #1 Georgetown Hoyas

Mainly for the sake of them being at home. However UConn is in a bit of a slump right now. Overall these teams matchup pretty evenly. UConn ranks 141st in points per game, 39th in rebounds, 122nd in assists and 53rd in feild goal percent; countered by Georgetown's 103rd in ppg, 124th in rebounds, 102 in assists and 54th in feild goal percent. After starting the season 12-1, UConn has lost 5 of their last 7 games, and has lost their last three games to unranked opponents (Cinci, Tennessee and Notre Dame). Playing Georgwtown on the road is probably going to be a pretty tough way to break the trend. However, Georgetown hasn't been spectacular either as of late. The Hoyas are 3-3 in their last 6 games, including a 68-64 loss at home to Cinci (who beat UConn as well on the road). Obviously both teams are struggling a little right now, but I would put my money on the team who has struggled the least and has homecourt advantage. Hoyas is my pick.

Possibly more to come...

January 21st Picks

It's been a great and relaxing morning. I finally got to sleep in, and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee this morning without having to rush/chug a cup down. I almost forgot what a fresh cup tasted like (definetely beats energy drinks if you have the time for it). Now with some clarity of mind, I write.

Enough with my personal life though. You will have to forgive me for over a week of no updates. This month has been very busy for me, but I have every intention of reviving this blog back to its "Glory Days" (if it ever had any) in February. I'm going to try and get at least one pick a day until near the end of January, and try to go daily in February. I missed a couple good picks this morning, but here are some night games you may want to consider.

Pick #1  Mississippi State 3-pointers or tie

Though Mississippi State has struggled lately, I think they can still keep this game within a respectable score. If you look at Mississippi State's previous games, it's obvious they have the talent to keep up with just about anyone if they play to their potential. The question is, will they play to their potential tonight? I'm not entirely sure, but my gut says they can handle it. Vanderbilt has played very well lately, and hasn't lost since December 17th to Indiana State. However, if you look at these two teams as a whole, they even out pretty well. Hopefully MSU will be able to capitalize on the perimeter. Good luck whatever you do.

January 11th Picks

Only one pick today I really felt very comfortable about

Streakhelp's Pick

Pick #1 Miami Heat-

Miami (8-2) has a lot of depth and finally appears to be playing more as a team compared to the Clippers (4-3). However, just last night they lost in overtime to Golden State (3-6) on the road. Aside from Golden State, Miami's only other loss at home to the Hawks (7-3). My biggest concern is whether Miami will be truly rested, and also if last night's game will provoke any backlash going into tonight. On the flip side, last night's loss may be a motivator going into tonight to make-up for the close loss. Miami's offense has been dominant so far, ranking 1st in points and 1st in assists, as well as 8th in rebounds. The Clippers have had a pretty good offense as well, ranking 8th in points and 10th in assists, but it just doesn't quite compete to the Heat's success. Hopefully Miami will be decently rested. However, even if they aren't, their depth will definitely help their case.

Good luck tonight whatever you do

January 10th Picks

Short posts tonight, but hopefully they help.

Pick #1 Oklahoma City-

The record I don't think lies, the Thunder (8-2) are just a better team than the Grizzlies (3-5) right now. Both teams do have injuries, but with Memphis missing Zach Randolph, I think Memphis is in a little worse shape. This isn't a completely easy pick, but Memphis isn't the same without Randolph.

Pick #2 Vanderbilt-

Vanderbilt is struggling a little compared to previous seasons, but I still think they are better than South Carolina. 2 of Vanderbilt's 4 losses came to then-ranked #11 Xavier and #6 Loiusville. Aside from losses to Kentucky, Ohio State and North Carolina, South Carolina has lost to pretty mediocre teams. Homecourt should give them some confidence, but I think Vandy prevails...

Good luck tonight whatever you do.

January 9th Picks

Streakhelp's Picks

Pick #1 Braga Win or Draw

Yes I'll be going with the trend today, Braga with the draw option is just to good. Braga goes into this game at 7-4-2 with a 12 goal difference, Beira Mar goes in at 4-4-5 with a goal difference of 3. Beira Mar has draw to some decent teams in their table, such as FC Porto and Lisbon. However, they have not beaten a team higher than them in the table aside from Academica. Braga has done significantly better this season and they have the draw option. Lastly, Beira Mar is 1-2-3 at home, with their only win to a lowly Feirense team. Braga looks much better especially with the draw option.

Pick #2 39 yards or fewer (LSU vs Alabama)

If you watched the previous match between these teams, LSU won 9-6 in a game that produced no touchdowns. The way things look right now, We may see similar results. Both teams have stellar defenses, and neither team has yet to exploit their opponents weakness. At 3-0, halfway through the second quarter, I think a low scoring affair is likely. Unless one of these teams figure out the others defense I would easily go 39 under. Good luck either way.

More Picks will be up tomorrow. I see a couple I like.

January 8th Picks

Streakhelp's Picks

Pick #1 Anaheim Ducks

With the Ducks at home, having a day off, and Columbus coming off a road game against LA from last night, I have to go with the Ducks. With them being more rested than Columbus and at home, that gives the edge to two pretty equal teams. I just don't think there is a good reason to go with Columbus.

January 7th Picks

Streakhelp's Picks-

Pick #1- Murray State: Winning Margin

Austin Peay is an aweful team who usually struggles from long range. On average Austin Peay makes around 3 to 5 three point shots a game. The two other ranked teams they played (then ranked #22 Cal and #21 Memphis) they lost by a combined 48 points (163-115). Most of their schedule has been composed of pretty poor teams this year. If Murray State can win by 10 or more, I think they should be fine. They have a good shot at winning by 15+ I believe.

January 4th Picks

Not a lot I like today, but here are a few games you may want to consider. It's been a while since I've updated the blog anyway... So today will be a good day to break the ice.

Streakhelp's Picks

Pick #1 Temple Owls win or single digit loss

Not sure why all the love for Duke, all I know is Temple is no pushover. It could very well go either way, but 95+% on Duke is a little ridiculous I think. Temple is playing at home at 9-3, with their only bad loss to Bowling Green. Their other two losses came to decent teams (Purdue and Texas). One of which was on the road (Texas). Temple has generated a pretty good local fanbase this season, so I think homecourt advantage definitely implies to this game. This one should come down to the wire, I'll take my chances with Temple. Good luck whatever you do, this post is to mostly warn you not to get completely  caught up with the sheep. Duke stands a good shot as well, but not like the percentages make it out to be.

Pick #2 Clemson Tigers

Clemson has been a better team this year in my opinion. They began getting some doubters from both critics and average college football fans after two blowout losses to NC State (37-13) and rival South Carolina (34-13) in their final two games of the season. However, after a 38-10 punishing ACC Championship win over then #5 Virginia Tech, Clemson has developed some hype going into this game. With current situations I really like Clemson.

January 2nd Picks

Ryan's Picks

Pick 2: Oklahoma State Cowboys.

I think the Cowboys will leave Arizona with a Fiesta Bowl Victory. I
think the Cowboys will outscore the Cardinal and hand Andrew Luck a
loss in his last college game. Stanford does not have the defensive
players or athletes to keep up with Justin Blackmon Brandon Weeden and
co. I expect this game to be similar to the Rose Bowl with the Cowboys
winning a high scoring affair.

January 1st Picks (Happy New Year!)

Ryan's Picks

Pick New York Giants

I like the New York Giants to beat the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night
Football. I trust Eli Manning more than Tony Romo. Also the Cowboys
have one pass rusher in Ware who is injured, while the giants have
multiple pass rushers Tuck, Kiwanuka, and Pierre-Paul, who are all
getting healthy. Couple this with the fact that the game is in New
York and I think the Giants will get you the green.
