August 12th picks/Lookback on day

As I said before, another good day. I hope this has helped you the last couple of days. I really enjoy it and want to continue as long as I have an audience.

Pick Reviews:

Yankees-

This was one of those wins that was bittersweet. Obviously I want to win props and improve the reputation of this blog, but at the same time I REALLY wanted the Angels to pull off the upset and see the leaderboard go down. I felt good about the Yankees along with a lot of other people. I thought it would be pretty close, and it turned out to have a great finish. The Angels really scared me/made me excited there at the end. However, the Yanks pulled out the win and gave everyone a predictable green.

Sheffeild-

I really didnt pay much attention to this game. Because frankly I didnt care. I had no picks invested in the prop. It turned out to be a hard fought win for Sheffield however. Blackpool got more than they asked for.

Cardinals-

This pick made me a little nervous at first. But on paper the Cardinals looked better (besides overall record) than the Brewers. Turned out about what I expected but honestly I was a little surprised they won by more than the Yankees did.

THE PICKS: Ok lets get to it. Another day down, so lets move along...

Pick #1- Cleveland

They seem pretty clean on paper. I know you will have to wait out most of the day to pick this, but this could be a really good pick. The Indians have a better home record at 31-25 vs. the Twins 25-35 away. The Indians have better batting (15th in run, 21st in batting average, 16th on base, and 17th in slug %) than the twins (22nd in runs, 18th in batting average, 27th on base, and 26th in slug%). To  add to that the Indians will be placing Justin Masterson on the mound. He posts a 2.71 ERA, 9-7 record, 123 strikeouts, and a 1.19 WHIP. On the other side (Twins), you have Carl Pavano whos has a 4.71 ERA, 6-9 record, 65 strikeouts, and a WHIP of 1.36. Cleveland looks better than Minnesota in a lot of categories on paper

Pick #2- Boston

Obviously Boston looks good at first glance at (72-44) vs the Mariners who are (50-66). But in addition to Boston has a much better overall record, they stand out on the road as well.  Boston is (35-22) on the road, with the Mariners (29-29) at home. Ok, now that we have established the fact that Boston is better record-wise, now lets look at some other variables. Boston has the best batting team in the MLB. They are #1 in runs, batting average, slugging %, and on base. Seattle is 30th in runs, batting average, slugging %, and on base; huge advantage for Boston. Now, Here's the depressing catch... John Lackey. Lackey is one of the worst pitchers in the MLB at 6.14 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and only 76 strikeouts in 18 games. His decent record helps his odds (10-8), but he still looks aweful in his stats. Now for even more uneasy news, the Mariners will start a pretty good pitcher with Blake Beavan. Posting a 2.83 ERA, 3-2 starting record, 17 strikeouts in 5 games and a 1.09 WHIP, the Marlins definitely seem to have the pitching advantage. This evens it out a good bit. Dont count this a lock, but a pretty decent pick. Boston is who I would choose

Possible Pick: Picks I am staying away from, but you may be interested in...

Possible Pick (but I cant promise a win)- Diamondbacks

This one is pretty even. The Diamondbacks (64-53, 32-26 home) host the Mets (58-59, 33-27 away). The Mets have looked good on the road so far this year. Both the Mets and the Diamondbacks will be starting good pitchers. The Diamondbacks will start Ian Kennedy with an impressive record at 14-3, he posts a 3.20 ERA, 137 strikeouts and 1.1 WHIP. The Mets will start Dillon Gee, with another pretty good record at 10-3, he posts a 3.93 ERA, 74 strikeout and a 1.23 WHIP. Both teams batting looks pretty even overall; 9th in runs, 4th in batting average, 4th on base and 13th in slugging %. The D-backs are 7th in runs, 20th in batting average, 14th on base and 6th in slugging %. With both teams being pretty much even, I would say the Diamondbacks but being on the road shouldnt phase the Mets. Great prop by SFTC, very tricky. Im bumping this one down to 50/50. Not a good pick for a streak. The more I looked at it, the more evenly matched it seemed.

Pick #3- Yes. Dan Uggla gets a hit

Dan Uggla is hot right now batting. I could almost guarantee he pulls off a hit. He has really struggled against Big Z, but this time he has been tearing it up in recent games. One hit sholdnt be to much to ask. I was going to add this to my "possible picks", but honestly this should be a really good pick unless you want to choose Cleveland and Boston. Which in my opinion Cleveland and Boston is the way to go.

***Im not adding Arizona to my blog pick record whether they win or lose. Its just free info on a game you may be interested in.

Im sorry this is so little but I have stuff I need to tend to tonight. I may have more info on some more props tomorrow and maybe edit this a little to, but I probably wont comment on golf. So far there is not a lot I like. Stay tuned, ill have more in the morning...

August 11 results

Sorry this post is so late, I had some business to deal with. Another great day. All predictions went as planned. But honestly I am only going to take credit for the Yankees and Cardinals game. Blackpool was just sort of a gut feeling and past matches went into play. That game could have gone either way. I will have the next picks for tommorow up soon. It will be later tonight around 11 to 11:30pm.

Picks today:

Yankees- Won 6-5
Cardinals- Won 5-2
Sheffield- Won 1-0
Indians- Won 10-3

record for day 4-0

streakhelper record for the month 6-0 (since August 10)

Hopefully by now you have at least a win 4 (unless you picked the Cardinals to)

More to come stay tuned....
Ok if your feeling bold about the Blackpool vs Sheffield game, I would go Sheffield. I really dont like this matchup, but if you forced me to make a pick between the two, Sheffield would be my pick. But the Yankees to me seem better. I think thats all I have time to write today. There arent a lot of matches I really like beside the Yankees and maybe the Cardinals. Stay tuned for tonight. I will have an analysis of August 12th picks and let you know my final thoughts on the Cardinals/Brewers game. If you have followed my picks from yesterday and pick the Yankees today that should put you at a win 4. be sure to click "follow" up in the top left corner of this page for updates. Sorry todays picks were not very in- depth. Tommorows should be though.
