August 26th Picks

Today I couldn't really get around to posting on my blog. So I had no final writeups on my picks. Tomorrow I should have some more time to invest in this blog and finish up the month. The last few days have been crazy busy.

If you picked Atlanta today awesome. If you picked Texas hopefully you didn't use the odds to fully invest your pick. I really couldn't figure out why Texas was such a huge favorite... I just decided to skip on them. I liked them of the two but not enough to make the pick.

Just a quick post tonight on who I like tomorrow. I am only going to write who I really like and no more iffy-picks. Tomorrow I WILL have writeups on these games. I know I didn't today and I said I would but tomorrow will for sure. These picks havn't been finalized so I may be adding some or taking some off tomorrow morning or tonight.

The Picks

Possible Pick Vfb Stuttgart- This game will be very close. But with the draw option, I think Stuttgart is the way to go. Draw in a very close game I think.

Possible pick FC Porto Win, draw lose by 1

Some info I found online...

"I’ll take Porto here, why? IN THEIR LAST 78 games in all competitions, going back to March 2010, the Portuguese have been beaten by more than 1 goal JUST ONCE. Defensively they are up there with best and while Barcelona has to regard as the best club in the World at the moment and they may win the Super Cup, it won’t be a cakewalk. With the Spanish season yet to start due to the strike, they may just be a little rusty and Porto has started their own season in usual fashion, winning 2 from 2. Both teams have contested 2 previous Super Cups, Barcelona winning 1 and losing one and Porto losing both games they played in but on both occasions, the games were close…

28/08/2003 Super Cup Milan 1:0 Porto.
26/08/2004 Super Cup Porto 1:2 Valencia.

05/08/2006 Super Cup Barcelona 0:3 Sevilla
28/08/2009 Super Cup Barcelona 1:0 Shakhtar (after extra-time)

Barcelona, as we all know can be devastating at times and if on top form, can score at will but Porto are no mugs and have one of the best defences in Europe and will make it hard for the Catalans. Whether Porto can keep Barcelona off the score sheet is debatable but they themselves can be very dangerous in front of goal. If Barca does have any weakness, it can be argued that it is in defence but by being so effective up front, they win games basically by outscoring the opposition. With the possibility of extra-time, (the prop is for 90 minutes only), I’ll go with Porto to hang tough defensively and if they do lose, it may be only by one."

This guy has some good information but I think Barcelona will have a pretty good shot at winning by 2+ as well. Close call to me. Hope this info helps..

Pick #1 Detroit Tigers-

This should be a decent pick. Detroit has had a very good batting team for the most part of this season. Ranking 9th in runs, 5th in Batting Average, 6th on base % and 6th in Slugging percent. Also on the mound they will start a pretty experienced pitcher, who despite his 5.17 ERA has an alright record at 11-8 with 80 strikeouts. Minnesota has had pretty low batting all year 26th in runs, 20th in batting average, 28th on base and 27th in slugging. But with a pitcher with a notably high ERA they may do a little better than normal. With that said, Minnesota will start a pitcher (Scott Diamond) with very little experience (1 game), In which he pitched a 4.26 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and only 1 strikeout. He has a notably high ERA as well. So I don't see why the Tigers can't hit on a pitcher with little experience. Go Tigers.

Pick #2 Winnipeg Blue Bombers- I'm not going to have a writeup on this. Just know it is a pretty good pick.

Pick #3 Chicago White Socks-

These might be some picks you want to check out before you go to bed or in the morning. I will get them done tomorrow morning sometime.

Thanks
