October 4th Picks

October 3rd pick result:

Detroit Tigers- Won 5-4

Blog record for month- 3-2

  Glad to see Detroit pull out a win tonight at home. Tomorrow seems pretty dead again. Streakmaster has been slacking more than usual. Anyway, there are a couple of games I feel decent about.

Possible Pick- Gateshead: Win

  I know this is a little late notice, but with Wrexham out with some key players (5 of them to be exact), I think Gateshead has a good shot at home against Wrexham. Included in Wrexham's 5 starters out are; their starting goalie Chris Maxwell and leading scorer Jake Speight.

Pick #1 Philadelphia Phillies

  Cole Hamels is the main reason for this pick. Traditionally, he has done very well agaist the St. Louis Cardinals despite his 5-0 loss back on September 18th. This season he has posted a 2.70 ERA, 194 strikeouts, 0.99 whip with his 14-9 record. With that said, Jaime Garcia has been pretty hot lately. In September he was 3-0 and averaged a 2.64 ERA. Overall this season he has put up a 3.56 ERA, 1.32 whip, 156 strikeouts and a record of 13-7. This should be pretty close. I'll take the Phillies, but not with a ton of confidence. Just enough to take the risk.

Confidence rating: 60%      Phillies 60% ------------><-------- Cardinals 40%

Pick #2 LA Galaxy: Leading at halftime or tie

   My only concern is if LA decides to sit a lot of key players. With a secure playoff spot and not a lot to play for, this may be a trap. I'll have to see the linups first, but if most of thier starters see action in the first half, this may still be a good pick.

   Confidence Rating 65%        Galaxy 65% ------------><-------- Red Bulls 35%

More to come tomorrow...

  2. Tough game to call. Almost even at everything overall. You coul literally flip a coin for it, but with Arizona at home and in desperate need of a win, they may take it tonight. Either way wouldn't surprise me.
