February 2nd Picks

Pick #1 Washington Huskies

Definetely the Huskies of the two. Washington ranks 31st in points per game, 10th in rebounds, 125th in assists per game and 99th in field goal percent; Conversely, UCLA ranks 134th in PPG, 201st in rebounds, 48th in assists and 49th in field goal percent. UCLA really has no significant wins, and a lot of their losses were to generally mediocre teams. Plus, Washington has played very well at home (11-4), with thier home losses coming to Marquette, Duke, California and South Dakota State. All of which are solid teams. There are just more reasons to go with the Huskies I think. UCLA could put up a good fight, but ultimately, I think the Huskies will prevail.

Sorry the post went up a little late. Good luck.

February 1st Picks

Pick #1 Georgetown Hoyas

Mainly for the sake of them being at home. However UConn is in a bit of a slump right now. Overall these teams matchup pretty evenly. UConn ranks 141st in points per game, 39th in rebounds, 122nd in assists and 53rd in feild goal percent; countered by Georgetown's 103rd in ppg, 124th in rebounds, 102 in assists and 54th in feild goal percent. After starting the season 12-1, UConn has lost 5 of their last 7 games, and has lost their last three games to unranked opponents (Cinci, Tennessee and Notre Dame). Playing Georgwtown on the road is probably going to be a pretty tough way to break the trend. However, Georgetown hasn't been spectacular either as of late. The Hoyas are 3-3 in their last 6 games, including a 68-64 loss at home to Cinci (who beat UConn as well on the road). Obviously both teams are struggling a little right now, but I would put my money on the team who has struggled the least and has homecourt advantage. Hoyas is my pick.

Possibly more to come...

January 21st Picks

It's been a great and relaxing morning. I finally got to sleep in, and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee this morning without having to rush/chug a cup down. I almost forgot what a fresh cup tasted like (definetely beats energy drinks if you have the time for it). Now with some clarity of mind, I write.

Enough with my personal life though. You will have to forgive me for over a week of no updates. This month has been very busy for me, but I have every intention of reviving this blog back to its "Glory Days" (if it ever had any) in February. I'm going to try and get at least one pick a day until near the end of January, and try to go daily in February. I missed a couple good picks this morning, but here are some night games you may want to consider.

Pick #1  Mississippi State 3-pointers or tie

Though Mississippi State has struggled lately, I think they can still keep this game within a respectable score. If you look at Mississippi State's previous games, it's obvious they have the talent to keep up with just about anyone if they play to their potential. The question is, will they play to their potential tonight? I'm not entirely sure, but my gut says they can handle it. Vanderbilt has played very well lately, and hasn't lost since December 17th to Indiana State. However, if you look at these two teams as a whole, they even out pretty well. Hopefully MSU will be able to capitalize on the perimeter. Good luck whatever you do.

January 11th Picks

Only one pick today I really felt very comfortable about

Streakhelp's Pick

Pick #1 Miami Heat-

Miami (8-2) has a lot of depth and finally appears to be playing more as a team compared to the Clippers (4-3). However, just last night they lost in overtime to Golden State (3-6) on the road. Aside from Golden State, Miami's only other loss at home to the Hawks (7-3). My biggest concern is whether Miami will be truly rested, and also if last night's game will provoke any backlash going into tonight. On the flip side, last night's loss may be a motivator going into tonight to make-up for the close loss. Miami's offense has been dominant so far, ranking 1st in points and 1st in assists, as well as 8th in rebounds. The Clippers have had a pretty good offense as well, ranking 8th in points and 10th in assists, but it just doesn't quite compete to the Heat's success. Hopefully Miami will be decently rested. However, even if they aren't, their depth will definitely help their case.

Good luck tonight whatever you do
