August 26th Picks

Today I couldn't really get around to posting on my blog. So I had no final writeups on my picks. Tomorrow I should have some more time to invest in this blog and finish up the month. The last few days have been crazy busy.

If you picked Atlanta today awesome. If you picked Texas hopefully you didn't use the odds to fully invest your pick. I really couldn't figure out why Texas was such a huge favorite... I just decided to skip on them. I liked them of the two but not enough to make the pick.

Just a quick post tonight on who I like tomorrow. I am only going to write who I really like and no more iffy-picks. Tomorrow I WILL have writeups on these games. I know I didn't today and I said I would but tomorrow will for sure. These picks havn't been finalized so I may be adding some or taking some off tomorrow morning or tonight.

The Picks

Possible Pick Vfb Stuttgart- This game will be very close. But with the draw option, I think Stuttgart is the way to go. Draw in a very close game I think.

Possible pick FC Porto Win, draw lose by 1

Some info I found online...

"I’ll take Porto here, why? IN THEIR LAST 78 games in all competitions, going back to March 2010, the Portuguese have been beaten by more than 1 goal JUST ONCE. Defensively they are up there with best and while Barcelona has to regard as the best club in the World at the moment and they may win the Super Cup, it won’t be a cakewalk. With the Spanish season yet to start due to the strike, they may just be a little rusty and Porto has started their own season in usual fashion, winning 2 from 2. Both teams have contested 2 previous Super Cups, Barcelona winning 1 and losing one and Porto losing both games they played in but on both occasions, the games were close…

28/08/2003 Super Cup Milan 1:0 Porto.
26/08/2004 Super Cup Porto 1:2 Valencia.

05/08/2006 Super Cup Barcelona 0:3 Sevilla
28/08/2009 Super Cup Barcelona 1:0 Shakhtar (after extra-time)

Barcelona, as we all know can be devastating at times and if on top form, can score at will but Porto are no mugs and have one of the best defences in Europe and will make it hard for the Catalans. Whether Porto can keep Barcelona off the score sheet is debatable but they themselves can be very dangerous in front of goal. If Barca does have any weakness, it can be argued that it is in defence but by being so effective up front, they win games basically by outscoring the opposition. With the possibility of extra-time, (the prop is for 90 minutes only), I’ll go with Porto to hang tough defensively and if they do lose, it may be only by one."

This guy has some good information but I think Barcelona will have a pretty good shot at winning by 2+ as well. Close call to me. Hope this info helps..

Pick #1 Detroit Tigers-

This should be a decent pick. Detroit has had a very good batting team for the most part of this season. Ranking 9th in runs, 5th in Batting Average, 6th on base % and 6th in Slugging percent. Also on the mound they will start a pretty experienced pitcher, who despite his 5.17 ERA has an alright record at 11-8 with 80 strikeouts. Minnesota has had pretty low batting all year 26th in runs, 20th in batting average, 28th on base and 27th in slugging. But with a pitcher with a notably high ERA they may do a little better than normal. With that said, Minnesota will start a pitcher (Scott Diamond) with very little experience (1 game), In which he pitched a 4.26 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and only 1 strikeout. He has a notably high ERA as well. So I don't see why the Tigers can't hit on a pitcher with little experience. Go Tigers.

Pick #2 Winnipeg Blue Bombers- I'm not going to have a writeup on this. Just know it is a pretty good pick.

Pick #3 Chicago White Socks-

These might be some picks you want to check out before you go to bed or in the morning. I will get them done tomorrow morning sometime.

Thanks

August 25th Picks

I will get a writeup on these tomorrow. I lost my W12 today on my personal entry (special thanks to the Brewers), so out of slight dissappointment I just threw some picks out that I was making to rebound. Hopefully they helped some of you. On the bright side, most of the leaderboard fell and our stash will have a good chance of rolling over to September ($500,000). Thats a lot of dough.

Today was a weird day. The 3 picks I was a little iffy about turned out to be great picks and the 2 picks I felt best about were losses.

Also I may end this blog a little early this month if no one has a decent streak within the next few days. I can tell my traffic is slowing down because people (including myself) have lost motivation for the month and are waiting for September to roll around. That's why I have been slacking on this blog a little bit researching picks and updating. Also I have been throwing in more 50/50 picks trying to help people get a streak before the end of the month. At this point however I think it is about time to wrap up the month.

I think September will be a really good month, because I think this blog has become popular enough to really hit the ground running from the beginning of September. Instead of picking up in the middle like It has in August. So far this blog has been 41-9 in overall picks and I expect similar or better results for next month. I really think with a whole month to prepare someone following this blog will have a good shot to win next month. Maybe even the stash. Just kidding. But seriously, maybe

The Picks for now...

Atlanta- Man its hard to pick them after today but I will tell you why I think they will pull it out tomorrow.

Rangers- They are a huge favorite. I will let you know if I find out why... ha

I will check a couple of soccer props to.

Stay tuned for tomorrow

August 24th picks

Pick #1 Milwaukee

With Marcum on the mound for the Brewers and the Pirates starting a newbie pitcher, the Brewers to me are the obvious choice. Marcum has been pretty good this year for the Brewers, going 11-3, with 127 strikeouts and a 3.4 ERA. I think it will be similar to yesterday. That's about all you need to know honestly.

No time for anymore writeups. I have been so busy the last couple days.

Pick #2 Atlanta Braves-

Possible Pick Arizona-

Possible Pick #2- Boston

Possible Pick #3 Yes Weaver records a strikeout

Sorry. this blog has been hard to update today.

August 23rd Picks/lookback on day (post still in progress)

August 22nd results-

Orebro SK Result-   Loss 2-0
Detroit Tigers Result- Won 5-2
Atlanta Braves Result- Won 3-0

Record for day 2-1, 34-5 overall

Not a lot I like tomorrow. I will try to find some picks the best I can

The Picks...

Pick #1 Milwaukee-

I like Milwaukee mainly because of their pretty good batting and because of the fact that Pittsburg is starting a pretty rough pitcher in Ross Ohlendorf. Ohlendorf has posting a 7.27 ERA, only 6 strikeouts an a 1.85 WHIP in his little playing time he as recieved this year. The Brewer's Marco Estrada hasn't looked increadibly hot this season either (4.28 ERA), but he has helped the Brewers defeat the Pirates 3 times this year. Milwaukee will have a pretty good team batting tonight (top 10 in everything except on base where they rank 11th). The Pirates have pretty low batting compared to the rest of the league. 25th or lower in every batting category. The Pirates have done better at home than on the road, so right now thats the only catch I see (besides this being SFTC and crazy stuff happens everyday).

Pick #2 San Francisco Giants-

The difference in this game is going to come down to the Cain and the Giants bullpen. Look for a defensive game. Both teams batting is pretty poor for the most part. One thing to note though is the Giants bullpen is apparently pretty thin from what I have heard. But if Cain gets hot and stays in most of the game, the Giants should have this. Even with low batting they have been able to win games.

Possible pick- Karlsruher SC II

I am just going to take a leap of faith and put this on the line. Its not like you have a lot of time anyway before the month is over. You have to just start making picks the best you can. Not a very well-known league, but I think I have enough to go Karlsruher. Last time the two teams played it ended in a 2-2 draw. However that was on the road for Karlsruher. This time they will be at home. They have looked pretty decent overall this year, both at home and on the road. Memmingen has looked pretty bad both ways on the road and at home. In fact they have scored 1 goal in their last 7 league matches. Karlsruher has scored 17 in their last 7. This will either end a win for Karlsruher or a draw. I just don't see Memmingen winning this.

Possible pick #2 Wisla Krakow?- Ok, well I'm really not sure about this one now. All Wisla has to do is score and they advance. Even if they lose by 50. Which, as you know, is very common in soccer to win or lose by 50 or more. Pick at your own risk. I think this is a pretty close pick... Just some free info on a game you may or may not be interested in.

More soon. This just to keep you busy
